"A real kick in the teeth"

Films: Darkness Falls (2003)

Alias: Tooth Fairy

Type: Mystical

Location: Civilized Area

Height/Weight: That of an average human.

Affiliation: Evil

Summary: Witch hunts weren't always about witches. Sometimes, people just really wanted an excuse to burn someone they didn't trust. And in this case, all of Darkness Falls (yes, that's its real name) would know the wrath of a victim. A tooth fairy, in fact.

History: Matilda Dixton was a kindly widow who gave gold coins to the children in exchange for their fallen teeth. But then a fire engulfed her, forcing her to wear a mask to keep away from the sensitive light. Then two children went missing. Then the townsfolk of Darkness Falls had her hung after accusing her of the disappearances. Then the children came back the next day just fine. In death, Matilda placed a curse upon the land, ensuring that her spirit would persist and terrorize the people for all eternity. Beware the dark, for that is where she dwells...

Notable Kills: Nothing special.

Final Fate: After being confronted in a lighthouse, Matilda is blindsided by the place's light, and after getting her mask destroyed, is punched in the face and set alight by a fist set on fire. This kills her for good, and removes the curse from the place.

Powers/Abilities: Near invulnerability, the ability to travel through darkness.

Weakness: Light and fire are her worst fears and the few ways to kill her.

Scariness Factor: 4-While a good light comes in handy, one cannot deny how scary a specter in a creepy mask out to kill you truly is. And once you remove that tooth-filled (?!) porcelain mask, DEAR LORD, LOOK WHAT THAT FIRE DID TO YOU, MATILDA!

Trivia: -This film was based on a short film by comic book artist Joe Harris. Unfortunately, tons of executive meddling resulted in something far away from his vision.

-Matilda's design went through a slew of changes, with at least one set to be played by none other than Doug Jones. That particular design was leagues above what we got in the end, looking like a demonic fairy with a monstrously deformed lower jaw.
